What A Father!

"The fuses of love are so overloaded they almost blow out. The subconscious doubts--that he wasn't thinking about at the time, but that pop up every now and then--are gone! And in their place is utter and indestructible assurance, so that you know that you know that you know that God is real and that Jesus lives and that you are loved, and that to be saved is the greatest thing in the world. And as you walk on down the street you can scarcely contain yourself and you want to cry out, 'My Father loves me! My Father loves me! O, what a great Father I have! What a Father! What a Father!'"

  1. Or in other words,

"For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." (Rom 8:15-16 ESV)

“For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” (1 Thes 1:5 KJV)

    Hi Erik,

That contagious enthusiasm we may discern while reading about Martin Lloyd Jones’s wonderful experience most certainly refers to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Before that event both God’s Holiness and power are unknown to us. However, from then on a deep, loving, and sure relationship with Jesus’ Father as our Heavenly Daddy makes us break new ground, now, with the Holy Trinity in our hearts.

Just in case you’re interested in the description of my personal experience of this baptism and of certain glimpses of His glory, you might check out one of my comments (the longest :-) ) on Allan Halton’s blog “A Mending Feast”, posting “Thank God… For You”, Nov 8, 2013).

    I hope this helps.

In closing I'd like to say that I do not believe that you have an idolatrous heart, Erik, since you seek Him earnestly. I can somehow hear your desire for "more of Him" between the lines.

    God bless you,
    Susanne
